Stefon Diggs is hitting back in court at the man accusing him of sexual assault. In newly filed documents, the Washington Commanders player denied all wrongdoing and argued that Christopher Griffith cannot hold him liable over a tweet he posted about the case.

The filing is the latest turn in a messy legal fight between the two men, with each side suing the other. TMZ reports Diggs denies the allegations Griffith has made, and his response makes clear he intends to fight both the claims and the counterclaim. The case is ongoing, and nothing has been proven in court.
According to TMZ, Griffith claims he was friends with Diggs and says he was flown to the NFL star’s home in Maryland in May 2023 for a celebrity basketball game. Griffith alleges Diggs drugged him and made advances toward him even after he said no.
He further claims that about a week later, Diggs had associates beat him up for refusing those advances. Page Six, as reported by BOSSIP, added that Griffith says the attack happened in Los Angeles and was carried out by Diggs’ brother, Darez Diggs, along with two other associates. Griffith has also posted what he says is supporting evidence on Instagram, including an alleged direct message exchange about being “outed” and photos of Diggs wearing clothing Griffith says was stolen from him, alongside an itemized receipt.
Griffith’s attorney, Jake Lebowitz, told Page Six, “Chris Griffith is going to have his say and is looking forward to getting justice for the sexual and physical attacks perpetrated against him.” Lebowitz added that the alleged attack “came as a direct result of Mr. Diggs’s rebuffed sexual advances toward Mr. Griffith.”
Stefon Diggs Says He Never Defamed Christopher Griffith
Diggs flatly denies it. In his filings, he says none of it happened, including the claim that he had friends attack Griffith. He also denies making a pass at Griffith and claims the opposite, that Griffith tried to steal clothing from him, which is what led to the friendship being cut off.
Diggs was actually the first to sue. He filed a libel lawsuit claiming his reputation was damaged by what he says are lies Griffith spread. According to BOSSIP, his suit pointed out that Griffith broadcast his allegations to his nearly 100,000 followers and tagged actress Sarah Jessica Parker and boot company Ugg, with whom Diggs had recently worked on a campaign.
Griffith then countersued, arguing that Diggs defamed him after the lawsuit was filed. The counterclaim centers on a tweet in which Diggs wrote, “Lying on my name because he got caught stealing.” The post went on to dare Griffith with what would happen once Diggs proves him a liar.
In his new response, Diggs argues that his statements were true, and that he cannot be held liable for speaking the truth. In plain terms, his legal position is that Griffith can be offended by the post all he wants, but being upset does not make it defamatory.
This is not the only legal trouble surrounding the NFL star. BOSSIP previously reported on a separate lawsuit from a former employee who alleged defamation and civil conspiracy tied to a stolen Ferrari, a suit that also names his brother Trevon Diggs.
Diggs was also accused earlier this year of felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault by his personal chef, allegations he denied through his team at the time. Those matters are separate from the Griffith case, and each is an allegation that has not been decided in court.
