Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Eddie Osefo, raised eyebrows during Sunday’s (Nov. 1) episode of The Real Housewives of Potomac (#RHOP), when Eddie seemingly shouldered responsibility for the couple’s ongoing insurance fraud fiasco. In a surprising conversation, Eddie suggested that Wendy was blindsided by the allegations, potentially hinting that she was unaware of what allegedly transpired before law enforcement became involved. The revelation came as the couple candidly discussed the toll their legal troubles have taken on their marriage, which Eddie described as a “work in progress.”

Eddie Osefo dropped this bombshell during Sunday’s episode.

During dinner with their #RHOP co-star Tia Glover and her husband, Rob, who are navigating marital issues of their own, Eddie appeared to defend Wendy against any implication that she knowingly participated in the alleged scheme. He used a mortgage payment analogy to explain how the situation created tension in their marriage.

“I think it’s just one of those things where, you know, for example, if you’re charged with paying the mortgage every month, and then nine months later, sheriff’s coming at your door saying it’s time for you guys to get out of the house [because] you haven’t paid the mortgage,” shared Eddie, as he gave an example in explaining what caused tension in his marriage to Wendy.

He added:

“It’s one of those situations where Wendy was caught off guard… She’s not handling things. She didn’t know anything going on.”

Eddie’s comments didn’t go unnoticed by his castmates, particularly Ashley Darby, who admitted she was surprised by what he revealed.

Appearing on Sunday’s episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the 38-year-old reality star shared her reaction to Eddie’s remarks and praised Wendy for the questions she asked during the episode.

“I was very surprised by that because Wendy had been very hush, hush, during filming,” she told Cohen when asked about her reaction, before giving Wendy her props.

“Detective Osefo, I have to give her her flowers, because she asked the questions and those are the questions I would have asked. I feel like she carried the torch very well,” Darby added.

As previously reported, Wendy and Eddie were indicted and arrested in October 2025 on 16 felony fraud charges stemming from allegations that they falsely reported a 2024 burglary at their Maryland home to collect an insurance payout. Both have vehemently denied any wrongdoing.

The couple have retained separate legal teams and are scheduled to face trial beginning January 25, 2027. If convicted, they could face up to 15 years in prison.

Meanwhile, Sunday’s episode offered viewers a closer look at just how much the ongoing legal battle has affected Wendy and Eddie’s relationship.

In one emotional scene, Eddie asked Wendy whether she was still in love with him, seemingly questioning where they stood as a couple amid the mounting pressure surrounding their legal troubles.

The conversation came after Wendy recounted a heart-to-heart with castmate Gizelle Bryant, who encouraged her to remain committed to her marriage regardless of how difficult things became. However, Wendy made it clear that she wanted to stay with Eddie because she genuinely wanted to, not because she felt obligated to do so.

“So are you compelled to stay with me or do you still love me?” he said flat out.

“I still love you,” she replied.

“But?” he shot back.

“There was no but,” she replied.

Wendy then turned the question around and asked Eddie whether he was still in love with her. He didn’t hesitate with his response.

“Yeah of course, 1000%, no hesitation. I never lost sight of the fact that I’m in love with you, and I still love you… We’re a work in progress.”

This isn’t the first time the married couple have spoken about how the pressure of their insurance fraud case has impacted their marriage. On the Season 11 premiere of #RHOP in October, Wendy referred to their current rough patch as:

“The darkest time in our marriage.”

She continued:

“I had moments where I didn’t even want to talk to you. It’s definitely been trying. … Some days I’m not fooling with you at all.”

Eddie added that although fighting the case has been tough, he and Wendy have been actively working to repair their relationship amid the ongoing turmoil, adding:

“I feel we’re rebuilding trust with each other.”

What do you think about Wendy and Eddie Osefo’s conversation on Sunday’s episode of #RHOP? Do you think the couple can weather the storm, or has the legal drama put too much strain on their marriage?
