Was it pure coincidence or something more intentional when the lights went out in time beyond regulation of a 3-3 recreation between UMass and UConn and the Huskies had a likelihood to win?
That’s the query UConn hockey followers are most likely asking themselves after the No. 13 team in the nation lost in a shootout to the Minutemen over the weekend, after play had to be halted due to the lights at Mullins Center.
UMass almost scored with less than two minutes remaining in time beyond regulation when the puck went flying out of the UConn finish, and the Huskies began dashing up the ice the other approach.

As this was taking place, the lights started flickering, and as Kai Janviriya crossed the blue line into the UMass zone, the crimson lights came on before the complete area went pitch black — forcing the refs to cease play.
The UConn gamers were understandably pissed off when the lights came back up, with several gamers elevating their arms up and one slamming his stick on the ice.

It appeared the subject with the lights stemmed from the area ops workers considering that UMass had scored, which triggered what appeared to be the aim celebration.
Earlier highlights in the recreation confirmed a comparable flickering in the lights after several of UMass’ targets.

The Minutemen ended up profitable the recreation in a shootout and selecting up an further level in the standings.

Jack Musa scored the profitable aim in the shootout and called the emotion inside the Mullins Center during the recreation “surreal.”
“I’ve never heard Mullins that loud, and got scared a little bit before I even touched the puck because of the noise, but it was an awesome feeling after I saw it go in,” He advised the Daily Collegian.
