Tank is bringing more money, more power, and a whoooooole lot more mess to Season 4 of Hulu‘s Reasonable Doubt, and the R&B singer is telling BOSSIP all about his devilishly devious character’s increasingly chaotic connection to Jax Stewart.

If you’ve been keeping up with the Hulu legal drama, you know the Grammy-nominated singer plays Eric Cropper, a wealthy music mogul who’s used to getting exactly what he wants. Whether he’s lying, scheming, or manipulating the people around him, Eric can’t stop, won’t stop, doing whatever he wants; consequences be damned.

And lately, his questionable decisions have extended to enabling Jax’s (Emayatzy Corinealdi) growing dependence on prescription painkillers.

After discovering that Jax had used members of his team to illegally obtain pain pills following her shooting, Eric seemingly saw an opportunity to bring the already vulnerable attorney even further into his orbit.

By episode 6, things had gone from bad to downright disastrous.

Viewers watched as a visibly impaired Jax aggressively questioned Eric’s ex-wife Brooke on the witness stand while under the influence of pain pills.

She then turned her frustration toward Corey Cash (Morris Chestnut), insulting him and demanding that he leave despite his decision to uproot his life and potentially jeopardize his engagement to help her.

But Jax’s downward spiral didn’t stop there.

The attorney later embarked on a drug-fueled birthday binge with Eric, complete with lingering, lustful looks and a series of decisions that threatened to make an already disastrous situation even worse.

And if Jax thought her birthday binge was bad, things are about to get even messier.

The next episode will see her loved ones staging a birthday intervention, with her husband Lewis, friends, assistant Krystal, and personal private investigator Daniel coming together to confront her about her spiraling substance abuse.

Adding another layer of tension is the presence of Jax’s estranged mother, despite the attorney previously declaring that she wanted nothing more to do with her after her mom accused her of having a drug problem just like her father.

With Jax’s personal life unraveling and her relationship with Eric raising even more red flags, the intervention could be the wake-up call she desperately needs.

And while viewers might be side-eyeing Eric’s influence over Jax, Tank says there’s much more to his character than meets the eye.

Tank Talks Joining The ‘Reasonable Doubt’ Cast And Bringing Eric Cropper To Life

For Tank, joining the Reasonable Doubt family was an experience that exceeded his expectations, thanks in large part to the welcoming atmosphere on set.

“Getting the call was incredible. But actually walking into it and meeting cast, crew, writers, directors, it was probably one of the greatest welcoming experiences ever,” he told BOSSIP.

“They bring you in, put their arm around you, and we have just as much fun as much work as we do,” he continued. “It’s kind of a crazy balance that we have this much fun and do this much work as well.”

That camaraderie also carried over into the creative process, with Tank revealing that the show’s writers and directors encouraged him to experiment with his portrayal of Eric rather than sticking to a rigid interpretation of the character.

“They’re very much like, ‘Try it. Let’s see it. Go for it,’” he explained.

Tank Says Eric Cropper’s Money And Power Have Made Him A Man Who Answers To No One

According to Tank, Eric isn’t just wealthy and influential. He’s so accustomed to getting his way that the idea of facing consequences barely registers.

“He gonna say it how he feel it. He gonna do it how he want to do it,” Tank told BOSSIP. “To him, there are no repercussions. He is the repercussion. You understand what I’m saying?”

The singer added that Eric’s money, fame, and status have only reinforced his belief that he can operate however he pleases.

“He lives a life of privilege, and that is adorned by power and money and fame and all of these things that kind of validate it all for him,” Tank said. Yeah, he a mess. He’s a mess.”

That certainly tracks with what viewers have witnessed so far, especially as Eric continues inserting himself into Jax’s increasingly complicated personal and professional life.

Tank Teases Eric And Jax’s Troubling Connection: ‘These Two Together, They’re Trouble’

With Jax already struggling to regain control of her life, her growing closeness to Eric is raising plenty of red flags.

But according to Tank, there’s a reason these two seem to understand each other, even when their decisions leave everyone else shaking their heads.

“You have to take two people who are unapologetically who they are and consider the idea that they are coexisting together,” he explained.

“When you’re able to be who you are, 100% of who you are, then that changes things. Now it’s a deeper connection. It’s a deeper friendship.”

Of course, when one of those people is a powerful music executive who believes he’s above consequences and the other is an attorney battling substance abuse, that connection could become dangerous.

Tank summed up their dynamic with a warning that should make viewers especially nervous.

    “These two together, they’re trouble.”

And considering that their latest night together involved drugs, flirtation, and some seriously questionable judgment, we’d say that’s putting it mildly.

Tank Warns ‘Nothing Is What It Seems’ As Reasonable Doubt Season 4 Continues

If viewers think they’ve figured out Eric Cropper or where his storyline is headed, Tank wants viewers to think again.

When asked what warning label he’d put on Season 4, the singer teased that audiences should prepare for plenty of surprises.

“You’re going to question everything. Every episode,” he told BOSSIP. “Nothing is what it seems. Nothing is going to be what it seems.”

Reasonable Doubt season 4 streams new episodes every Tuesday on Hulu.
