St. John’s roster is now full, and the newest addition continued the development of Rick Pitino including skilled gamers from abroad.
The Johnnies landed 6-foot-10 Hungarian sharpshooting massive man Zsombor Maronka.
His addition comes in the wake of Syracuse switch Donnie Freeman being lost for next season due to a torn Achilles tendon suffered during offseason exercises, prompting the search for another ahead.
The 23-year-old Maronka spent last season with the Hamburg Towers of the Basketball Bundesliga, averaging 7.8 factors and 4.4 rebounds while taking pictures 36.8 % from 3-point vary on 4.3 makes an attempt over 27 video games in Germany’s high professional league.
He also appeared in 13 EuroCup contests with Hamburg and produced averages of 5.6 factors and 3.2 rebounds.

“Z is a knockdown shooter and terrific passer,” Pitino said. “At 6-10, he brings great length to our team.”
Maronka is the fifth worldwide prospect St. John’s has added this offseason.
He joins Quinn Ellis of England, Babacar Sane of Senegal, Djordije Jovanovic of Montenegro and Lazar Stojkovic of Serbia.
The expectation is that the skilled Maronka will present depth up entrance at a number of positions and complement slashers Sane, Ellis and high Baylor switch Tounde Yessoufou.
