Rams receiver Puka Nacua has never been shy about consideration, but his newest offseason cameo might be the most flamable yet, at least among his own fan base. During Super Bowl week in San Francisco, he posed for a smiling picture with 49ers cheerleaders. Innocent? Sure. Strategic? Doubtful. Explosive among Rams followers? Absolutely.

Context is everything. This hasn’t been a quiet winter for Nacua. He publicly shot his shot at actress Sydney Sweeney, was noticed on dates with influencers and went viral for showing a little too free in the streets during Super Bowl festivities. He even threw shade at quarterback Sam Darnold during the huge recreation, main to criticism on-line from a former teammate. Nacua’s newest antics are only including to the rising mythology of Puka Offseason Theater.
The picture itself isn’t scandalous. No disrespectful gestures. No crimson confetti raining down. Just a grin and a few pompoms. But for Rams followers, rivalries matter, and so do optics.
