Lil Wayne is caught up in the rapture. The rapper has his sights set on Anita Baker to perform at his wedding, revealing the legendary singer as his top choice as speculation about his upcoming nuptials with 23-year-old fiancée Madison “Madi” Cannon continues to build. Could wedding bells be ringing soon for the rapper?
Lil Wayne says he would pick Anita Baker to sing at his wedding.
During Wednesday’s (October 7) episode of The Joint Venture Show, host Craig Carton posed a series of listener-submitted questions to the Young Money founder. Among them was who Wayne, 44, would want to perform at his wedding, presumably to Cannon, 23.
“My first choice, of course, would be Miss Anita Baker,” Wayne said.
Still, the rapper acknowledged that he wouldn’t want to put any pressure on the 68-year-old R&B icon to take the stage for his big day.
“I heard that she’s getting a bit tired of performing it and I wouldn’t want to stress her in any way,” he added. “So if not, then I’d go with Keith Sweat or Babyface.”
Carton suggested Baker’s classic hit “Sweet Love” as a fitting choice for the occasion. Wayne, however, left the final song selection in his bride’s hands, making it clear that she would get to decide what plays on their wedding day.
So, who is Madi Cannon you ask? Find out after the flip!
Lil Wayne Introduces Madison “Madi” Cannon as His “Fiancée.”
The wedding conversation comes shortly after Wayne seemingly confirmed his engagement to Cannon in a video shared by fellow Hot Boys member B.G. on Sept. 29.
While congratulating B.G. on his engagement to his soon-to-be wife, Brooke Jones, Wayne turned the attention to his own relationship, introducing Cannon as his fiancée.
“Congratulations. I’m marrying this one. This is Madison. This is my fiancée,” the rapper gushed in the video. “Let us know what color we wearing. I’m the best man you heard me!”
Although Wayne appeared to confirm the engagement, details about Cannon remain relatively limited. Her full name is Madison Cannon, and she also goes by Madi Cannon.
According to PEOPLE, the couple have a 21-year age difference. Wayne was 44 when he seemingly announced their engagement, while Cannon was 23. According to her Instagram profile, Cannon is a Gemini, meaning her birthday falls between May 21 and June 20.
In a photo carousel shared to her Instagram page on June 16, Cannon offered a glimpse of what appeared to be a recent birthday celebration. One photo showed gold balloons spelling out “happy birthday,” alongside festive decorations scattered throughout a swanky-looking hotel room. While the post hinted that she had recently celebrated her birthday, the exact date remains unclear.
Notably, Cannon doesn’t have any photos of Wayne on her Instagram page.

As previously reported, Wayne and Cannon were previously at the center of engagement speculation in late May of this year, when TMZ reported that the rapper had proposed. However, Wayne appeared to put those rumors to rest, during an Instagram livestream obtained by TheShadeRoom on July 5.
“I would like to clear something up,” he said. “No, I’m not engaged. I had a beautiful thing going on with an amazing person, but, obviously, due to the validity of the temperature of today’s crazy world and culture, I considered, I don’t want to be such a burden on such an amazing person. So, we decided to part. Sucks.”
His comments at the time suggested that the pair had gone their separate ways. However, Wayne’s more recent introduction of Cannon as his fiancée indicates that their relationship may have taken another turn.
A Look Back at Lil Wayne’s Relationship History.
Now, this isn’t the rapper’s first trip to the altar or engagement. Wayne has been engaged multiple times throughout his career, but he has only been married once. The rapper wed his high school sweetheart, Toya Johnson, in 2004, and the pair divorced in 2006. They share one daughter, Reginae Carter, who was born in November 1998, when Wayne was 16 years old, PEOPLE noted.
The rapper also has three sons from previous relationships: Dwayne Michael Carter III, Kameron and Neal. He shares Dwayne with radio host Sarah Vivan. The two reportedly met at a concert in 2005 and had an on-again, off-again relationship before getting engaged in July 2007. Although their romantic relationship reportedly ended around 2009, they remained close friends and continued co-parenting their son. Wayne also shares son Kameron with actress Lauren London, with whom he had an on-again, off-again relationship, and son Neal with singer Nivea, whom he dated during two separate periods, from 2002 to 2003 and again from 2009 to 2010.
Before his relationship with Cannon, Wayne most recently dated model Denise Bidot. The pair sparked marriage rumors in April 2021, but Wayne dismissed the speculation during an Instagram livestream with Nicki Minaj that July.
“I did not get married,” he said.
In 2025, Bidot alleged that the rapper broke up with her on Mother’s Day, kicking her and her daughter out of his home, allegedly after sending a breakup text. Wayne never commented on Bidot’s accusations.
Now, with Wayne referring to Cannon as his fiancée and already imagining the soundtrack to their wedding, fans may be wondering whether the rapper is preparing to walk down the aisle again.
