John Boyega has confirmed that he indeed quietly tied the knot with ATL actress Lashontae Heckard nearly two years ago. Now, the British bloke is coming clean with another surprise — he’s a proud father! On Oct. 13, the Star Wars actor revealed that he and Heckard welcomed a baby “some time” ago.
“Our bundle of joy has been with us for some time now but thank you for all the well wishes. Also my sister is about to pop! Wish her well too!” Boyega, 34, captioned a photo carousel which kicked off with a picture of him sweetly hugging a pregnant Heckard, 48, at what appeared to be a baby shower.
“Back to feeding this big baby!” he added.
The final slide of the Instagram carousel featured a touching video of Boyega holding his newborn and gently stroking the baby’s head. However, the Star Wars actor chose not to disclose his child’s name.
Adding to the speculation, Heckard’s Instagram bio features the name “Tae Boyega.” She also expressed her excitement in the comments section of Boyega’s post, writing:
“Love and blessings to my Blessing!!!!”
The actor’s big announcement comes just days after he confessed to being a married man during an interview with The Guardian published on Oct. 4. He explained that the couple had opted for a small ceremony but stopped short of publicly identifying his wife. The Woman King star also revealed he was expecting a child, but did not mention a due date for his little one. Well, now we know his baby was here all along!
Boyega also opened up about the sentimental significance of his wedding rings, revealing that he owns two bands. One is a two-toned ring that holds deep “sentimental” value, while the other was acquired at a later time.

Who Is Lashontae Heckard?

Lashontae Heckard, professionally known as Tae Heckard, is an American actress and model with credits spanning television, film and music videos.
She is perhaps best recognized for portraying Jazz in the BET comedy-drama series The Game. Her other acting credits include the film ATL and the Netflix comedy series #blackAF. Heckard has also appeared in music videos for artists including Ne-Yo.
Although she has maintained a presence in the entertainment industry for years, Heckard has largely kept her personal life out of the spotlight. Details about when she and Boyega began dating, as well as how their relationship developed, remain unclear.

However, in September, the couple seemingly confirmed that they were together by dropping a few hints for fans on social media.
As previously reported, Heckard hinted on social media that she was no longer single, although she remained tight-lipped about the specifics of her love life. However, her online activity, paired with Boyega’s affectionate comments, fueled speculation that the two had secretly tied the knot.
The Star Wars actor also made his presence known in Heckard’s Instagram comments, sharing a playful message about pounded yam, a popular Nigerian dish, while referring to the actress as his “lover.”
“So this is why you cook Pounded yam and egusi on Saturdays?? a tactical weapon of mass plan-canceling. I’m onto you lover,” he commented on a post featuring a reel about how people aged 35 and older preferred staying home rather than going out.
Boyega continued teasing Heckard in the comments of her other posts. In one exchange, he joked about their shopping habits, claiming she kept them “in Walmart for 2+ hours.”
Heckard happily played along, offering a humorous explanation for their extended shopping trips: “I love watching you put all my shenannies in the cart. Yum.”
