A four-game shedding streak, a 1-4 file and another Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s of irrelevance stared them in the face.

Entering Sunday, the Jets had began a season with a 1-4 file 14 occasions, making the playoffs only once — in 2002, when they rallied to end 9-7.
