G Herbo faces up to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty in federal fraud case alleging he used stole identities for luxury purchases.
In December of 2020 G Herbo was listed in a federal complaint alleging he conspired to defraud businesses to keep up his rapper lifestyle. Allegedly Herbo and his business partners used stolen information to buy luxury puppies, book private jets and take extravagant vacations. Reportedly the feds had been investigating the case for years prior to charging those involved. Authorities claim as far back as 2017 Herbo and his partner Antonio Strong used stolen information for a private villa in Jamaica. Herbo was charged with 2 counts of aiding and abetting aggravated identity theft, and 1 count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
However, the charges didn’t stop there. When federal agents questioned Herb he allegedly claimed he had no direct connection to Strong. Furthermore, he also reportedly said he never gave him money or received anything of value from the co-defendant. Federal Agents immediately charged him with lying to them. During the whole ordeal he maintained his innocence until now.
According to the Chicago Tribune, Herbo has had a change of heart about the situation. He has now pleaded guilty to the charges and will face up to 20 years in prison. His plea agreement is still in the works but if accepted the offer will see the Chicago rapper facing two to three years. Hopefully for Herbo’s sake U.S. District Judge Mark G. Mastroianni is in a good mood during his plea hearing on July 27.
